In my workshops, I work with writers at all stages of their artist journeys. I work with individuals who have never written a story and those who have published a novel.
I believe artists need the intellectual, emotional, social support of a community. In my workshops, I not only teach the techniques and craft of writing, I also provide a supportive and genuine space for writers to engage in thoughtful, respectful, and lively discussions about their work and the work of others.
The workshops are designed to keep the focus on the writer and on the writing process. Through practice (individual and collaborative writing exercises) writers explore the elements and techniques of their craft. Exercises are geared toward helping writers think about writing in terms of images, not in terms of themes and outlines. Exercises are a way to practice and hone skills as writers learn to develop and trust their creative instincts, so they can discover the stories they want to tell.
I also work one-on-one with clients. We meet, virtually, for an hour a week (at a set time), and I am available to them via email in-between sessions, to review documents, answer questions, etc.
I can also come to you. If you are interested in offering a weekend workshop in your area, please contact me for more information.
